I find it pretty much impossible to remember the difference between Urban Cowboy, Drugstore Cowboy and Midnight Cowboy.

it helps if one tries mapping them onto the various elements of the Jungian self:
with Urban Cowboy as the Self, Drugstore Cowboy as the Shadow, Midnight Cowboy as the Anima, and Electric Horseman coming in from the range to serve temporarily as the shadowy Other.

furthermore, I really think someone should make a film in which they combine Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Story, and the Philadelphia Experiment. Tom Hanks could play a divorced, ice queen whose second wedding is disrupted by the arrival of nuclear missiles from 40 years in the future!

I am amazed and intrigued. When I posted my ____Cowboy entry, I was seriosly thinking of making a critical "map" of the major features of the movies, like what each one said about the human condition in general as related to the pop culture of their times.

I love that album...

I like to listen to it when I'm alone so I can sing along full blast with the lyrics.

I wasn't being entirely facetious with the Jungian breakdown, but if looked at too closely, no doubt it does. breakdown, I mean.

it holds up a lot better when applied to the weird tetrarchy of Sam/Frodo/Smeagal/Gollum in LOTR.
