So I went to a show with erin, doug, and [livejournal.com profile] fossefox on saturday night.

The band was some sort of bizarre parallel universe phenomenon.
The drummer looked exactly like [livejournal.com profile] rwx, except skinny.
The guitarist looked exactly like [livejournal.com profile] pinata, except with hair.
And the bassist looked exactly like me, except...well...nothing. he looked exactly like me.

And the weird part is they were all dressed like us too. black, vaguely oriental shirt and
black jeans on the drummer, ugly blue jeans and a batique sort of summery shirt on the bassist,
1970s vaguely western/vaguely disco shirt with a suede jacket on the guitarist.

And they *moved* like us. I have never played the bass, but I am absolutely certain that,
if I did, I would have used exactly the same style and movements as this guy. the drummer
had the sort of half-manic, half-comatose style that I am absolutely certain [livejournal.com profile] rwx
would have on the drums. and I've never watched [livejournal.com profile] pinata's movements enough to have
a clear idea of whether the guitarist moved like him or not, but [livejournal.com profile] fossefox assured
me that the similarity was uncanny.

But that's not all...I think if we were to form a band, we would sound a lot like them.
They were sort of a mishmash of Rush, King Crimson, Miles Davis, and 80s Brian Ferry. (And
sounded great, I should add.)

I am somehow reminded of the star trek with bad kirk and good kirk, but I'm not sure in which
alternate reality I'd rather live.

Okay, I want to know who this band is.

By the way, I have hair now.

they were called Loom. no album or EP or anything yet, and it was one of their first gigs. they were headlining at a pretty high-up-in-hipster-heaven joint in fremont.

I'll try to track down a few samples.
it was really disturbing watching myself play bass.
I didn't realize I have such a big nose.

That back view of the guitarist looks eerily like me, yes.

Danke! Yeah, looks like you can only see the guitarist from the side in that first picture. They have music samples up, though. Woot!
